International Sports Law

How do sporting organizations tackle the current challenges of doping, illegal betting, gaming manipulation and corruption? What are the biggest challenges of sport events, sport contract law and the resolution of sports related disputes and arbitration?

This Specialization Course is intended for professionals who wish to gain an in-depth knowledge of the legal and business aspects of international sports. The course comprises of two modules:

  • Module 1: Organisation and Good Governance
  • Module 2: Dispute Resolution: General and Specific Areas

Module 1 provides an economic and legal insight into sports organizations. It analyzes how sport organizations operate and integrate on a national and international level. Participants will also focus on topics such as sport events, sport contract law and the resolution of sportsrelated disputes and arbitration.

Module 2 addresses the question of how sporting organizations tackle the current challenges of doping, illegal betting, gaming manipulation and corruption, that are endangering the fundamental principles of sporting competition, such as, doping, illegal betting, e.g., gaming manipulation, and corruption in the sport.

  • The American sports model

  • Civil and criminal liability arising out of participation in sport
  • Tax and sports
  • Economic value of sporting events
  • Visit of the FIFA headquarters

--> The specialization can also be attended as a certification (CAS) course.

--> The specialization courses are only offered with a sufficient number of participants.
